If you've got an XP machine chances are it'll need upgrading Riddle

Johnson, it is a self build desktop pc so there was no software, but you are right the graphics card needs upgrading as windows new operating systems are not compatible. Don't do gaming so will bin it and start again which is what they want, except I will buy a Mac.

I'm looking into getting a hackintosh so I can run MacOS without being arse raped for the hardware. Won't get the same warranty, but there seem to be some good suppliers.

Re: Windows 10 upgrade.
I laugh at all the people that moan about windows and expect the new operating systems to work seamless on old 5-10 year old buggy hardware.

Windows 10 is working great for me despite me being reluctant to move to it as Windows 7 worked really well.
The one thing I don't like is Microsoft tracking everything you do and being willing to share this with the authorities. This crosses the privacy line for me.
Make sure you go through the privacy settings and switch things off.

Re: Windows 10 upgrade.
I think the main issue is that the whole thing now is geared up to keep us buying new software and new hardware, when neither is actually necessary, especially if things were well made and designed to last rather than designed to be replaced quickly. See mobile phones too.

My hi-fi which was made by a British company in Salisbury has been going strong for more than 20 years. Does it's job perfectly and hasn't missed a beat in all that time. Doesn't fit with a modern business strategy though..

Re: Windows 10 upgrade.
Windows 10 was put onto my desktop machine that was running win seven
A few months later switched on only to find that win 10 had done an upgrade.
3 printers and a lot of software was now not working, it would not go back to
How it was before the backup or to win 7 finished up having to format the h/drive
Re-install win seven, and take out the bits that does the upgrade.
